Domaines Albert Bichot, established in Beaune in 1831 by Bernard Bichot, is a historic Burgundy Maison that has continuously impressed wine enthusiasts. Today, under the leadership of managing director Alberic Bichot, the business has experienced a revitalisation, with a focus on a series of domaines that showcase the diverse terroirs of the region.

The domaines of Bichot include Long-Depaquit in Chablis, Clos Frantin in the Côte de Nuits, du Pavillon in the Côte de Beaune, and Domaine d'Adélie in Mercurey. Notably, Bichot is the perennial biggest buyer of Hospice de Beaune wines and often successfully bids on the Piece de Presidents. With a strong commitment to quality, Bichot has become the most exciting of the historical big Burgundy maisons, and we at Honest Grapes are delighted to strengthen our relationship with them each year.

Albert Bichot is a true advocate for sustainable viticulture, and as of the 2018 vintage, all wines from the Clos Frantin and Pavillon vineyards are fully certified organic. This commitment to environmentally friendly practices further enhances the appeal of their wines.

The Wine

With an extensive portfolio, there is a wine to suit all tastes and budgets from Bichot, each showing the precision, typicity, and generosity of fruit expected of their level. Over the last few years, we have seen the maison wines ascend to the same level of quality as those of its individual domaines (so much so that the Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Amoureuses' is fast becoming the most highly regarded cuvée in the whole range).

Renowned wine critic Neal Martin comments that Albert Bichot can make "really quite delicious, complex wines that often surprise people in blind tastings when not swayed by the label." The wines from Domaine du Clos Frantin are no exception: they offer fantastic quality without breaking the bank - here you’ll find real value and drinking pleasure.
