Argentina

ARGENTINA

Although classed as New World, Argentina has an old viticultural history with wine being made here since the 1500s. It's the largest producer of wine in South America, with two-thirds of its production based in Mendoza. In the foothills of the Andes, with irrigation coming from the snow’s melt water, these high-altitude vineyards benefit from a high diurnal variation resulting in complex, aromatic and well-balanced wines.

Argentina has adopted France’s Malbec as its own for red wines, and has its own indigenous, aromatic Torrentés for white wines.
