Black Friday - Mixed Case
Quinta Das Maias Branco, 2019: "The 2019 Quinta Das Maias Branco is a Malvasia/Encruzado blend from a 130-year-old organic estate in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela in the Dão region of central north-west Portugal. It’s fresh, lemony and floral and makes a fascinating alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
Poggio Argentiera, Maremmante Rosso, 2019: The Maremmante is a typically Mediterranean blend with aromas of herbs, licorice, fruit, and spices. A warm wine, just like its territory, the Maremmante is ready to drink young, can age 3-4 years.
Lavradores de Feitoria Rosé, 2018: "The 2018 Lavradores de Feitoria Rosé comes from Portugal’s River Douro, the river of gold itself. A deep reddish-pink, it’s made from Touriga Franca plus, I gather, a splash of one or two other local varieties. It’s deliciously floral on the nose (think rose petals) with plenty of wild strawberries and hedgerow fruit on the palate too." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
Prats & Symington, Prazo de Roriz, 2017: "The 2017 Prazo de Roriz from the port-making vineyards of the Douro Valley has an impeccable pedigree, being part of the joint project between the Symington family (owners of such fabled port houses as Cockburn’s, Dow’s, Graham’s, Warre’s) and Bruno Prats (of Ch. Cos d’Estournel fame). It’s fresh and fruity with great depth and intensity, as you might expect given that the grapes used are those that make the finest ports." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
Dal Bello Prosecco Doc Treviso Extra Dry, NV: "Dry, elegant and weighty, it’s a refreshing aperitivo and pleasant accompaniment to light lunches. Fully sparkling with a fine mousse, or froth, this is a real cut above." Stacey Smith, The Independent
Joven Godello, Viña Barroca, 2019: Wonderfully fragrant, with ripe fruits and spices on a tapestry of earthy and floral aromas, this superstar from Vina Barroca hits the palate with a skilfully deft touch, before fully revealing itself in a long, dense and persistent finish.
