Castello di Bolgheri
This historic estate belongs to the aristocratic Gheradesca family and once included vineyards now owned by Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia) and Tenuta dell’ Ornellaia (Masseto). The wines are now indubitably heading towards the quality of its two cousins at the top of Bolgheri rankings after recently getting back in the game. Only two strikingly animated Bordeaux Blends are produced from vineyards just a chicken bones throw from the Tower of the Castello itself. They might just be one of the best pedigreed and underexposed Super Tuscans on the market today - much of their tiny production does not making it past the wine lists of the restaurants throughout this stunning part of Etruscan coastal Tuscany.
