Completely hidden from view, and sheltered from the mistral, Château Unang is located in a beautiful corner of Provence. In 867, the Bishop of Venasque was given Château Unang by the King of Provence. For over 800 years Unang was passed down from one bishop to another, until it was sold at the end of the 17th century. In the late 18th century, an Italian aristocrat married into the family that owned Unang. Subsequently, the château was spruced up with a facelift. The winery is owned by Scottish descendants, James and Joanna King, since 2003. The King family is one of the most renown and admired wine producers amongst a group of fine independent winemakers that are slowly making their mark in the Rhône Valley. Château Unang’s wines are certified organic.
