Chile

Chile

Chile is South America’s Pacific home-made noodle, so long from North to South, and bounded by the Andes on the East and the Pacific Ocean on the West. Contrary to popular belief, Chile doesn’t just produce ‘bubble-gum’ fruity wines at bargain basement prices. Taking advantage of international wine consultants and modern soil and weather analytics, there has been huge investment in quality wine production. Growers recognise the importance of ‘terroir’ – the superiority in wines made from grapes harvested in localised vineyards, which express localised climates. These two factors have led to a marked improvement in wines at mid- range prices which combine old-world elegance with new world fruit ripeness to give plenty of drinking pleasure.
