Domaine Ballot-Millot

Domaine Ballot-Millot remains in the very capable hands of 17th generation talented winemaker Charles Ballot, who says the secret to happiness is living your passion - and his passion is the vines. He has been instrumental in taking the quality of this domaine to new levels, innovating and advancing the frontiers. The vineyards are farmed organically with no herbicides, he follows the lunar cycle in the cellar and prefers to let the terroir take the lead in his wines – he only uses 25% new oak for his 1er crus and only 10% for his village wines.

Domaine Ballot-Millot comprises 10 hectares, spreading across Meursault, but also has parcels in Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard and Volnay. The heart and soul of this Domaine is their Chardonnay – complex, chiselled, with pure minerality, definition and muscle – grown in the three great premier crus of Meursault. The flagship Genevrières is his oldest parcel in Meursault’s most hallowed 1er Cru site, where the vines are 70 years old and give excellent concentration. We’re also huge fans of the Lieu Dit Narvaux, a real hidden gem in the village that punches well above its weight.

The remainder of this domaine focuses on Pinot Noir – which are equally outstanding. The wines here are some of the most exciting in Meursault, with superb quality and yet retaining great value for money.
