Pizza alla Puttanesca

Pizza alla Puttanesca
One of the top five domaines in Burgundy, Dugat-Py also has one of the most impressive and extensive cellars in the region, originally built in 11th century for the Abbey of Saint Benigné in Dijon. Loïc Dugat, now 13th generation, is continuing the family tradition of making some of the greatest and most sought-after wines in Burgundy, from the family’s eleven hectares of perfectly sited vineyards, planted with vines averaging nearly seventy years old. Everything is done by hand, while a horse is used to plough a few of the vineyards. The domaine has been fully organic since 2003, with Loïc now working biodynamically across a number of sites. The wines are vinified with as little intervention as possible and are bottled unfined and unfiltered.

What to drink with... Pizza alla Puttanesca.

Although often used as a sauce with pasta, Puttanesca sauce can be spread on a pizza base to spice it up a little.

Using anchovies, garlic, chilies, capers and olives on your pizza, this will still be a rustic dish, so head for one of our Merlots, a Barbera from Northern Italy, Primitivo – ours comes from Puglia, Southern Italy. An Italian food friendly wine from South Africa is our Rooiberg Pinotage – smooth and fruity. If you like to stick to Italian wines with Italian food then, we’ve got a rather tasty Chianti and a blend of Nero d’Avola and Syrah from Sicily. A refreshing white wine would be our Falanghina from Campania, Italy.
