The domaine was established in 1985 by Jean-Marc, former winemaker for Olivier Leflaive Frères, although the Boillot family have a long history of viticulture and vineyard ownership in Burgundy. From initial holdings of just 5ha he inherited some excellently situated old vines (even those of the village Puligny are over 60 years old) from his grandfathers Henri Boillot and Etienne Sauzet, which he farms with his daughter Lydie and son-in-law François Alzingre.
We are delighted to be offering two of his choicest 1er Crus – ‘Champ Canet’ (vines nearly 80 years old) and the wine which first made me understand the greatness of white Burgundy – ‘Referts’. For a value option his Montagny 1er Cru is simply unbeatable. The style of the domaine’s wines is rich, ripe and ample but oak is kept to a maximum of 30% and there is always the underlying minerality and a core of zesty citrus to balance the waxy, yellow fruits.
