Brilliant robe with green tints. A young and pleasant nose, a symphony of aromas blending tropical fruit and peach.
Harmonious and delicately shaded palate with an exuberant hint of tropical fruit.
Picpoul is often called the Muscadet of the south, although I’m not altogether sure why – perhaps because it’s inexpensive and has associations with the coast? It’s got a richer texture and less salinity but the better examples show a zestiness and only moderate alcohol to balance the orchard fruit character and creamy finish. Everyone likes a good Picpoul, it reminds you of your South of France holiday but still tastes delicious at home
We love picpoul ...perhaps more than muscadet ...and boy does this one deliver...even more 'rounded' than any picpoul we have tasted before...so we found it more full bodied and well worth drinking either on its own but superb with some seared tuna as we discovered a couple of nights ago.
It's always a pleasure tasting such a fresh and fruity white made from something other than Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. It's no wonder Picpoul de Pinet has such a huge fan-base these days. Crisp, dry and with a high natural acidity this wine is very refreshing yet is has fruit in abundance and a softer texture too. A perfect match to the local Oysters in this part of the world.
