Domaine Philippe Colin

Domaine Philippe Colin
One producer who always goes down particularly well at Club Member Tastings is the wonderful Philippe Colin, whose racy, elegant and utterly delicious Chassagne-Montrachets have found many admirers within our ranks. His vines were inherited from his family’s estate, which he split with his brother so they could explore their own styles. The domaine was established in 2004 and includes prized plots across Santenay, Chassagne, Puligny-Montrachet, St-Aubin and Maranges. Each year he produces almost 25 wines – and would do more if he could! Each of his wines clearly express their terroirs and Colin treats each plot differently.
Two-thirds of his 13 hectares are white, the other one-third red. Philippe uses minimal chemical intervention, relatively low new oak (20-25%) and just a bit of lees stirring during elevage. His Burgundies are seamless – his understanding of expressing terroir is masterful. Colin is regarded for his clean minerality surrounded by juicy and elegant fruit flavours – his wines are all about subtlety. This domaine is an Honest Grapes favourite and offers brilliant value – don't let these stunners slip through your fingers!Shop By
