We normally like to have a big party in the month of September to mark our anniversary and we would normally celebrate with a big tasting of around 50 wines in a London venue. Given the current situation we've had to think outside of the wine crate and so to celebrate the 6th we will be running 6 tastings that will be showcasing 6 wines on a variety of themes close to HG’s heart.

We are kicking off the Birthday tasting series by going back to the start and highlighting what Honest Grapes is all about, great value wines that punch well above their weight. We will be tasting 3 whites and 3 reds that showcases our diversity of producers whilst also highlighting their excellence.

Clemens Busch Marienburg Kabinett, 2018 (100ml)
We will be starting with of course what else but Nathans favourite, the epic Marienburg Kabinett Riesling from Clemens Busch, such a stunning and expressive Riesling.

Domaine Faury Saint Joseph Blanc, 2018 (100ml)
Our next white is a reminder that white wines from the Rhone are never to be underestimated. In this case, we will be sampling the excellent St Joseph Blanc from Domain Faury. The winemaker Lionel has so impressed us with his commitment to making truly classical and pure wines from this region and we are quite excited to get you tasting it as it’s the perfect food wine.

Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Blanc, 2018 (100ml)
To round off our classic Honest grapes white wine tour there is nowhere else we could go BUT Burgundy and who else to showcase the delights that Chardonnay can produce from the region than one of our firm favourites Domaine de Montille with the latest release of his Bourgogne Blanc from the solar 2018 vintage. Several of you will already be fans of De Montille whites and may even have some in your cellar, well this is the first time for you to get your hands on the 2018 vintage and see how it is coming along. For those that haven’t been introduced be prepared to be seduced!

Jane Eyre Fleurie, 2017 (100ml)
Now that the taste buds are fully warmed up its time to move onto the reds and we start with the winemaker Jane Eyre, a good friend of Honest Grapes who we met via her stunning Burgundy wines. When she told us she was making wine in Beaujolais we were very curious, and are delighted to report that her skills as a winemaker have created wonderful wines in Beaujolais too, which we will highlight with a sample of her excellent Fleurie.

Terre di San Leonardo, 2016 (100ml)
We then move onto the Terre di San Leonardo which comes from one of our longest relationships we have at Honest Grapes. The San Leonardo estate is responsible for some stunning wines that we have often labelled the Super Tuscan of the North, this wine is a wonderful introduction to what they are capable of.

Henschke Henry's Seven, 2016 (100ml)
Finally, to close the evening we will taste the mouth-watering Henschke Henry's Seven a Rhone-style blend from Australia that really made us sit up and listen when we tasted it many years ago. The Henschke estate is an excellent example of the direction that the Australian fine wine sector is going with terroir-driven wines.
