Wine Therapy Sessions 23rd and 30th July: Around the World in 48 Wines. SESSIONS 13-14
Out of stock
Series 13 sees us once again leave the shores of Europe and head over to a wine region that Has transformed itself in the last 20 years more than any other.
Both Chile and Argentina have evolved from being the producers of mass volume easy drinking wines with little diversity; to countries that now have a variety of regions making stylistically distinct wines expressing the grape variety in their own style. Both countries have championed specific grape varieties to show the potential that can be achieved and we intend to show you the levels that they are now reaching.
30th July: Great British Wine Off
We start evening with a Reserve Chardonnay from the Maipo valley from a producer that was one of the first to settle in the region in the 19th century and has evolved with the times to make a characterful chardonnay that can age. We then remain in Chile to showcase a grape variety that they have made their own, Carmenere.
Finally we will finish the evening with the signature red grape from Argentina; Malbec, showcasing what the grape variety is capable of when care and attention is taken in the vineyard and the aim is to make an expressive Malbec rather than a supermarket Malbec.
Well we have now got series 14 of our around the world tasting, a brilliant feat and thank you to all of you for joining us. So we thought that there was no better way to close the Wine Therapy series (until we are back in Autumn!) by showcasing some of the UK’s finest wines. We have been big champions of the local UK wine scene for many years now and want to share some of them with you this evening.
We will start with a stunning sparkling from the Rathfinny estate and we will be joined by Rob Buckhaven the brand manager for the winery. We will then move onto an stunning Chardonnay from the Kits Coty Vineyard which blew us away when we tasted the wine last year. Finally we will be tasting a red wine from Poulton Hill vineyard which we hope will convince you all that a decent red can be made in England
We thought that since this was the last of the wine series in a while to be in keeping with a wine off we should equally have a bake off on the side …… so several of the Honest Grape team are budding chefs and so they will all be baking something for the evening to be judged on looks only sadly as taste will be tough to judge. We of course encourage you to join in on the evening and flex your baking muscles and show us what you are capable of. There will of course be a prize for the winning entry!
