Henschke Henry's Seven
- Barossa Valley, Australia
"Henschke’s 2007 Henry’s Seven, a blend of Shiraz (65%), Grenache (15%), Viognier (11%), and Mourvedre (9%). It was aged in French oak hogsheads for 14 months. The wine offers up a fragrant perfume of cedar, spice box, floral notes, incense, black cherry, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied, plush blend with savory flavors, good length, and a silky finish." 91/100 Jay Miller, Wine Advocate
"Deep crimson in colour. Lifted aromas of plum and cherry with floral notes and hints of spice. The sweet, juicy palate is rich and lush with complex flavours of red fruits and cherries; developed fine-grained tannins and an excellent finish." Henscke
The Henschke estate practises biodynamic farming; "I would like to see the next generation inherit a fertile and sustainable land. Using the principles of biodynamics and organics enables me to create the best environment for plant growth." The shiraz, grenache, viognier, mourvèdre blend is a tribute to Henry Evans who planted the first vineyard of seven acres at Keyneton in 1853. He quickly developed a reputation for producing the best wines in the southern colony
