Jane Eyre Wines
Over the past five years, Melbourne-born Jane Eyre-Renard has seen an inexorable rise to stardom. When we first met Jane in 2015, we were amazed to hear that her wines didn’t have a presence in the UK. It’s been a real pleasure to see how her reputation has grown and a loyal following has developed with accompanied critical acclaim from luminaries such as Jancis Robinson, Tim Atkin, and Neal Martin. More recently she received her RVF second star and was also awarded Negociant of the Year 2020, a huge achievement.
Jane Eyre’s winemaking journey started with the 1998 vintage in Burgundy. She subsequently gained experience from some of the world’s top winemakers, including Ernie Loosen in the Mosel and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle Musigny. Jane is now one of the leading lights of the growing breed of micro-negociants, sharing a winery with no less than Dominique Lafon.
Whether from the Côte-d'Or, Beaujolais or Victoria (back to her home turf), Jane’s wine displays her distinctive style: delicate and inviting with supple tannins and soft but bright fruits. Gentle extraction and oaking, and early bottling means that these wines are among the more immediately accessible Burgundies in our portfolio.
Over the years, Jane has been involved in many Club events ranging from our Burgundy en primeur tasting at 67 Pall Mall through to two ‘Meet the Grower’ Wine Therapy Sessions. Whether discussing the nuances of the latest vintage or sharing her favourite food pairing tips, Jane’s charm and vivacity are matched only by the character of her wines.
