From Aussie hairdresser to decorated, award-winning winemaker, Jane Eyre’s rise to the front rank of Burgundy has been an extraordinary story to say the least!

When we first met Jane in 2015, we were amazed to hear that her wines didn’t have a presence in the UK (with a name like Jane Eyre, how could we resist bringing her wines to the UK market?), so we're thrilled to share her gorgeous Burgundies with our winemakers. It’s been a real pleasure to see how her reputation has grown and a loyal following has developed with accompanied critical acclaim from luminaries such as Jancis Robinson, Tim Atkin, and Neal Martin. More recently she received her RVF second star and was also awarded Negociant of the Year 2020, a huge achievement.

Jane’s first vintage was in 1998 vintage in the illustrious region of Burgundy. She then honed her skills working alongside some of the world's most respected winemakers, including Comtes Lafon, Ernie Loosen in the Mosel and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle Musigny.

Throughout the years, Jane has been an integral part of various Club events, from our exclusive Burgundy en primeur tasting at 67 Pall Mall to two engaging "Meet the Grower" Wine Therapy Sessions. Whether delving into the intricacies of the latest vintage or sharing her expertise on food pairings, Jane's charm and vivacity are only matched by the captivating character of her wines. In Bilgny-les-Beaune, Jane, led us through her cellar where she said she had something “special” to show us… it turned out to be a beautiful barrel and a half of 2019 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru that we have had the great opportunity to share with Club Members through syndicate memberships.

Today, Jane stands as a leading luminary among the emerging class of micro-negociants, finally setting up her own winery in the small village of Cissey in Volnay.

The Wine

Whether crafting wines from the Côte-d'Or, Beaujolais, or her native Victoria, Jane's wines exude her distinct style—delicate and inviting, adorned with supple tannins and vibrant, luscious fruits.

Through gentle extraction techniques, thoughtful oak usage, and early bottling, Jane has created Burgundies that are accessible and appealing even in their early stages.

Expect aromas of crunchy cherry and blackberry fruit to entice your senses. Some of our favourites include her gorgeous Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru “Les Corbeaux” and her lovely Savigny, though she also makes some stunning Aussie Pinot in Yarra & Tasmania too!
