Jonathan Maltus OBE, a long-time friend, is one of Bordeaux's most innovative and successful winemakers, famous for producing extraordinary 100-point wines that have caused waves on both sides of the Atlantic.

Our friend Jonathan has been our eyes and ears in Bordeaux for years, and we’ve had the pleasure of working with him on a number of exclusive projects, not least the launch of Club Pontet Labrie. He has also helped us craft a range of thrilling kosher Grand Cru Bordeaux alongside Chapeau, an illustrious single vineyard Napa Cab available exclusively for Honest Grapes Club Members.

His winemaking career began in 1994, when he purchased Château Teyssier, a fine vineyard in Saint Emilion. As an early and influential figure in the garagiste movement, Jonathan Maltus introduced Le Dôme in 1996, a superb wine predominantly made from Cabernet Franc. Renowned wine critic Robert Parker consistently awards Le Dôme high scores, with remarkable ratings in the top 90s and even perfect 99 and 100-point scores for the 2009 and 2010 vintages.

Additionally, the 2008 single vineyard release of Vieux Château Mazerat achieved a rare feat, receiving five stars from Decanter and standing alongside prestigious châteaux like Cheval Blanc and Ausone. Critics and wine enthusiasts alike have lauded Maltus's remarkable achievements in Bordeaux, recognizing his unwavering dedication to excellence.

Today the estate includes 50 hectares of vines, and the name Jonathan Maltus is synonymous with groundbreaking winemaking in Bordeaux.
