Johan Vineyards

Johan Vineyards
It took some time, and a pretty hectic career path (from taco chef to rifleman patrolling the Israeli/Lebanese border for the United Nations, with stints as part-time postman, substitute teacher and sanitation worker in between), before Norwegian Dag Johan Sundby found his calling in wine.

In the heart of the Willamette Valley, the 85 acres of gently sloping estate vineyards enjoy cool evening temperatures, ideal for ripening Burgundian varietals.

Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Vin Gris, Blaufrankisch, and Grüner Veltliner are meticulously farmed on marine sedimentary soils, and made in small, hand-crafted batches. Johan and Winemaker Dan Rinke have committed to environmentally responsible farming practices, and the vineyard is Demeter certified biodynamic®.
