Introduced to us at Vinitaly 2006, the wines from La Giaretta have rapidly established themselves as among the most popular of our portfolio. Husband and wife team, wonderfully - though confusingly - called Francesco and Francesca, run the estate located in Valgatara, a small hill town that lies in the heart of the classic Valpolicella region. They produce the lot from the lighter dryer Valpolicella to its sturdier brother Amarone della Valpolicella, which are the two most important red wines in the Veneto, all the way to the sweet Recioto (amazing match with Chocolate by the way) For several generations, the winery has produced and bottled wine obtained exclusively from grapes grown on the estate including the Valpolicella, the Ripasso and the Amarone.
What to drink with... Kedgeree.
A great Sunday brunch ingredient: rice, eggs, smoked haddock, mild spices. It’s not a hotly spiced dish.
Part of the Sunday brunch experience is often a glass of bubbly, English sparkling or Champagne and we have a great selection for you to choose from. Alternatively, try a refreshing rosé: the Italian Castello di Ama Rosato is very fruity and will match the smokiness of the fish and mild spices. The Plot 22 Rosado from La Mancha, Spain is a quaffable wine especially as it is only 11% abv – light but no lightweight.
