This is a wine that improves with age. It goes well with braised beef, juicy main courses and mature cheese. It is an excellent meditation wine. To bring out its bouquet and its organoleptic characteristics it should be uncorked in advance and served at wine-cellar temperature (18°C).
Amarone is one of those wines that once you're hooked it's difficult to let go. Consequently it's also difficult to be surprised and enchanted and taken back to that very first glass. But this wine does exactly that. It's pure Black Forest Gateaux in the mouth with edges of cedar and a wonderful whack of creamy oak on the finish. Fine tannins, great structure and a lush quality to it, it demands blue cheese and lots of it.

Introduced to us at Vinitaly 2006, the wines from La Giaretta have rapidly established themselves as among the most popular of our portfolio. Husband and wife team, wonderfully - though confusingly - called Francesco and Francesca, run the estate located in Valgatara, a small hill town that lies in the heart of the classic Valpolicella region. They produce the lot from the lighter dryer Valpolicella to its sturdier brother Amarone della Valpolicella, which are the two most important red wines in the Veneto, all the way to the sweet Recioto (amazing match with Chocolate by the way) For several generations, the winery has produced and bottled wine obtained exclusively from grapes grown on the estate including the Valpolicella, the Ripasso and the Amarone.
