Moulin de Gassac Pont de Gassac Rouge
Famous for its Grands Vins, the Mas de Daumas Gassac has been a family owned vineyard for more than 40 years and belongs to the Guibert family. It is set in a wild and enchanting valley, close the magnificent romanesque abbey of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. 50 hectares of a deep, well drained soil, free from any chemical fertilisers.
It is this fabulous terroir, similar to the best parts of Burgundy, that Henri Enjalbert, the great Professor of Geology at Bordeaux university, rediscovered in the 1970’s.A delight with red meat, game, duck and spicy dishes. Choice of old vines and terroirs with strong personality. Serve between 18°C and 20°C. Best decanted 2 hours before a meal, with stopper in place.
"37% Syrah, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot & 5% Grenache The softer Merlot and spicy Syrah combine particularly well here with the signature Cabernet providing discrete backbone and a touch of Grenache for cherry juiciness. This is surely a crowd pleaser - both in terms of encompassing a wide range of tastes (unless you only drink red Burgundy and Barbaresco this is unlikely to offend) and price." Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
"The 2019 Pont de Gassac Red is a soft, smooth blend of Syrah, Cabernet, Merlot and Carignan. Rich ‘n’ ripe, it’s also exuberantly fresh thanks to 10 months in steel rather than oak and it was no surprise to learn it won a gong at the Decanter World Wine Awards." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator37% Syrah, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot & 5% Grenache Nathan Hill, Honest Grapes
