HONEST GRAPES WINE CHALLENGE
The Cellars at Brunswick House, Vauxhall
At Honest Grapes, before we list any wine on our website, we ask our members to taste them and tell us what they really think. For London Wine Week, we’re opening this unique experience up to anyone who’s always wanted to try their hand at being a wine buyer.
Wine Challenge guests will taste at least 15 wines, and chat with our team about whether we should or shouldn’t add it to our wine list.
Two sessions:
- Monday 18th May 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm - More info and bookings
- Friday 22nd May 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm - More info and bookings
CASTELLO DI AMA GROWER DINNER
The Private Dining Room, Blacks Club, Soho
Dine with Lorenza Sebastian Pallanti from the renowned Tuscan winery, and sample their top single vineyards - "the Brunelli of Chianti" - as well as their latest release, San Lorenza, awarded 95 points in Wine Spectator, and rated sixth in their "100 Wines of 2014". The wines will be expertly paired with cuisine from Blacks' celebrated kitchen, and enjoyed in one of London's best private dining rooms.
- Tuesday 19th May 2015, 6:45pm-9:00pm - More info and bookings
HONEST GRAPES TASTE LAB
Ever wanted to know if you’ll like a wine before opening the bottle?
The Honest Grapes Taste Lab is a new take on wine tasting, where you’ll taste 10 wines and answer a series of questions. Our expert team will use this information to build your personalised wine profile, including grape, region and specific wine recommendations, so you’ll never again feel terrorised by a restaurant wine list.
If this all sounds a bit like a secondary school chemistry class, don’t worry – we promise it will actually be lots of fun, with plenty of chances to compare answers with your friends and chat to our wine experts.
The Labs will be held at a central London venue that we will advise ASAP.
Two sessions:
- Thursday 21st May 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm - More info and bookings
- Saturday 23rd May 2015, 3:00pm-5:00pm - More info and bookings
ALPHA DOMUS NEW ZEALAND GROWER TASTING
The Cellars at Brunswick House, Vauxhall
A casual stand-up tasting with Paul Ham from Alpha Domus in New Zealand's Hawke's Bay. Join us in Brunswick House's fabulously eccentric cellars to taste an intriguing selection from their estate - from a classic Kiwi-style Sauvignon Blanc to a Chardonnay, Merlot Cabernet blends and Syrah that more closely speak to Burgundy, Bordeaux and Northern Rhône than the Antipodes.
- Wednesday 20th May 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm - More info and bookings
THE BYRONIC BRUNCH
Polpo @ Ape & Bird, Covent Garden
Follow in the footsteps of Lord Byron, whose preferred morning repast was a brace of grouse & a pint of Port. Start your Saturday with Sherries from the 180 yr old Bodega El Maestro Sierra, Ports from the first fabled Quinta do Tedo & some of the purest expressions of Madeira from Barbeito. Certainly not your ordinary breakfast, certainly not your average producers and a serious start to the morning after the night before – for certain, as the Lord Byron himself wrote – ‘Man, being reasonable, must get drunk; the best of life is but intoxication’.
- Saturday 23rd May 2015, 11:00am-1:00pm - More info and bookings
