’Tis the Season to Steer Clear of Sham Pains
Here we are again. A party every night and the depressing toss-up between cripplingly expensive Champagne or bog standard sparkling vino on BOGOF. Whether you wish to take the edge off New Year’s Eve, to hunker down with the leftover Christmas bubbly like hibernating bears, or to roar, full of song and spirit, into 2015, we have three distinctive sparklers of spectacularly good value for you:
Champagne Frerejean Frères Premier Cru Brut NV
Nutty brioche, baked apples, soft fruit and honeyed almonds- perfect with smoked salmon
This is a cracking Champagne for any party, and amazingly priced given its superb quality. It is the Chardonnay dominated house blend from the three Frerejean-Taittinger brothers taking the UK by storm. Having matured for five years, it has the complexity to rival any 'branded' Champagne on the market .
Living up to our Honest moniker, we are bucking the trend for mark-ups on magnums (better for aging the wine and suitably dramatic) with our pioneering Two for the Price of Two offer.

Cremant d’Alsace Cuvee Traditionnel NV, Wunsch et Mann
Sherbet lemons, gingernut, ripe spiced pear and lots of mousse – less dry than Champagne and wonderful with creamy hors d’oeuvres
This extremely quaffable crémant comes from now fully organic vineyards around the village of Wettolsheim in Alsace, where vines have been grown by the Mann family since 1793. A blend of three Pinots (Blanc, Auxerrois and Noir) and Chardonnay, typical for this region, the wine has developed its lush fullness of character over three years on the lees.

Babot Cava Brut Nature NV, Quim Vila
Vivacious citrus and melon with dried apple, lemon sorbet and a hint of brioche - truly dry and lovely with canapés and seafood
After the expense of Christmas, this superb artisan Cava will provide welcome respite for the wallet. Babot aced our blind tastings and converted even our staunchest Cava sceptics. Though deep and rich, the dry crispness of this fabulous, all-natural wine mirrors that of the Tramonta wind which blows across these 800m high vineyards in Alt-Penedes from France.
