Pick of the Bunch Cases:
Seasonal Sipping:Seasonal Sipping
Amelia Park Semillion Sauvignon Blanc, 2014
Jeremy & Daniela Gordon are making some very sexy wines down in the Margaret River region which traditional makes Australia's most European-styled Bordeaux blends. Grassy and herbal citrus aromatics shows the Sauvignon's dominance on the nose and Semillon melon succulence on the palate.
Quinta do Correrio Tinto, 2013
One of my favourite producers in the Dao (and all of Portugal) these wines embody the elegant end of the spectrum that is possible from the best producers in the country. The absence of oak means there is a purity of hedgerow fruits and a great sense of place with this wine (all made from rare indigenous varieties).

The Godfather(s):Godfarther case
Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi, 2015
Villa Sparina has 100 hectares of land, of which 70 are cultivated with indigenous grapes, particularly dedicated to Cortese and Barbera. The vineyards benefit from excellent and varied soils, enjoying the mild, temperate climate of Southern Piedmont. This is a crisp weighty Gavi that doesn't disappoint.
Art & Science Shot Through the Heart Syrah, 2013
Dan Rinke practises organic and biodynamic winemaking, and his Syrah has a purity and spiciness that is refreshing and satisfying in equal measure. Lots of liquorice root and new leather on the nose with hints of cloves and a twist of white pepper. Forest fruits are supported by savoury tannins and an herbaceous, spicy life.

Vintellect: why do some wines get better with age?
It's a bit of a myth about why wines get better with age, as I would say about 90% of wines that are produced, are meant to be consumed within 12 months (Roughly). Wines with bigger grape varieties such as the Bordeaux blends e.g. cabernet-dominated or Rioja (Big, rich, tannic wines) are usually better for laying down as these wines will soften and change over time.
