Wines of the Week: Bottle Aged Clarets for under £15
Bottled aged, bursting with fruit … and a bargain to boot!
Château Gourran Rouge Tradition 2010, Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux
This Gourran stands out from a crowd of accessible but dull clarets. It’s an easy wine to drink, with an edge you'd expect to find in wines closer to the £20 mark. Clean, ripe and full of intense fruit, it has good balance and mild tannins.
Château Civrac 2008, Côtes de Bourg
The Civrac is a claret that’s been on our list since Honest Grapes began. Big, bold and with a really modern feel, it’s not your typical Bordeaux Blend (Malbec and Merlot only), but a recurring favourite at tastings and the standout French wine at November’s Big Day Out. By working closely with the Château owner, we've been able to introduce the 2008 vintage to our list at £14.75 - down from £16.80 for the 2007s.
