Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Cake

A millennium might have passed since their name was coined as ‘Nitimbreha’, possibly referring to a newly timbered house. Its earliest beginnings saw it first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. Then there was the planting of the first vines, almost exactly 900 years later. Today, the House is regarded as one of England’s finest wine producers. At the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), it was awarded 'English Wine Producer of the Year'.

Nyetimber owns 100% of their 170 hectare vineyards planted in West Sussex and Hampshire. Chief winemaker Cherie Spriggs worked in McLaren Vale and the Hunter Valley in Australia, Central Otago in New Zealand, Oregon and on Vancouver Island before joining Nyetimber. She caused quite a stir back in 2012 when she decided not to bottle the vintage, as the quality of the grapes was not up to her high standards.
