Introduced by his friend Pierre Duroché, Magnien’s winemaking style is more akin to Dugat-Py, characterised by its richness, power, and density.

Aloxe-Corton is a village appellation in the Côte de Beaune that is best known for its robust and complex red wines. The La Coutière vineyard is a Premier Cru site situated on the lower slopes of the Corton hill, with soils rich in limestone and marl. Sites like La Coutière are highly regarded for their ability to produce wines with both depth and structure, often needing some time to reveal their full potential.

This full-bodied Pinot Noir pairs exceptionally well with richer dishes such as roasted or braised meats (beef, lamb, or game), duck, or mushroom-based dishes. It also complements hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gruyère, as well as dishes with earthy, savoury flavours.

Drinking window: 2023 - 2043

What the critics say:

91/100William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Aromas of cassis, plums and sweet forest floor, framed by creamy new oak, introduce the 2020 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru La Coutière, a medium to full-bodied, rich and structured wine built around lively acids and powdery tannins."
