Part of the illustrious Albert Bichot portfolio, Domaine du Pavillon is situated south of Pommard, in the Côte de Beaune, and the winery, cellar, 18th-century manor, and estate's 15 hectares of vines are all enclosed in genuine clos. We’re strong supporters of Bichot, who make some of the most reliable, affordable Burgundy today, and Pavillon is no exception.

A hidden gem, overlooking Pommard, Clos des Mouches is another of Beaune’s Grand Cru contenders and certainly remains under-priced for the quality of wines it produces. Judicious new oak new oak contributes to the honesysuckle richness but does not impact on the lovely purity, and length of the fruit. The depth really impresses and shows it’s not just Drouhin who can make great wines on this site. Succulent and juicy but refined, showing both breeding and vibrancy, with ripe fresh and spiced baked apple fruit abounding on the palate and a lingering salinity on the finish. In short, this is really delicious!

What the critics say:

94/100Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

"The 2022 Clos des Mouches from Domaine de Pavillon has a lush, almost voluptuous fruit character that runs from green apple to passionfruit and quince paste. The texture is velvety and dense, yet there is enough freshness to give this a salty mineral note at the end. The grapes are from 0.75 hectares at the top of the slope (300 metres) in soils much more suited to white than red; they are pressed as whole clusters and fermented in cask on native yeasts, mainly in used casks, to deliver this delicious wine."

94/100Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin

"Remarkably bright and light with aromas of chamomile, verbena and succulent pear, this is not to be missed. The mid-weight concentration is sublimely balanced by fireworks-like acidity that neatly wraps everything up into a graciously long finish."

91-93/100William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches is lovely, revealing aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, citrus zest and wet stones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled palate that's racy and vibrant, with bright acids and a chalky finish. It's derived from a parcel at the very top of the slope, below the tree line."
