Within the house of Albert Bichot, Domaine Long-Depaquit is well known for its careful selection of Chablis styles and we have chosen our favourites of the vintage.

Bougros is the westernmost of Chablis' Grands Crus, with more clay in the soil helping water retention. This is especially significant in solar vintages, where Bougros typically has more freshness.

Château Long-Depaquit sits at the centre of the village of Chablis, surrounded by a rose garden. The approach is to limit grape yields in the vineyard, intervention and oak in the winery to develop wines with purity and focus on expression of the individual plots. The winery was modernised in 2014, leading to reduced environmental impact and a step up in quality.

Long-Depaquit are certainly on fine form of late, with their range comfortably and consistently scoring into the mid-90s from Meadows over the last few years, as well as a host of other critics and publications. Meadows describes wines in this bracket as deserving "a special effort to purchase and cellar and will provide memorable drinking experiences". As mentioned the wines are so good, in fact, they often go toe-to-toe with Francois Raveneau’s – now some of the most sought after, and expensive, wines anywhere.

What the critics say:

92-95/100Allen Meadows, Burghound

"Very generous wood openly fights with the exotic and ripe yet quite fresh nose that freely offers up a combination of white and yellow fruit aromas that are laced with hints of iodine, shellfish and mineral reduction. There is terrific, indeed almost painful, intensity to the bigger-bodied yet still refined flavors that exude an evident stoniness on the powerful and superbly long finale. This firm age-worthy effort is also excellent. Don't miss!"

95/100Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin

"This is an aromatically delicate Bougros with its lavish scents of tree blooms, verbena and donut peach. The palate is notably more concentrated than the airy nose lets on, delving into properly ripe orchard fruits. This is immediately enjoyable but should surely be shoved away into the cellar for at least five to seven years."

93-94/100Sarah Marsh MW, World of Fine Wine

"From vines more than 70 years old, and 9,000 vines per hectare, on the Côte de Bouguerots. It’s rich, generous, and punchy. Powerful shoulder, savory minerality and intensity to finish. 2028–36."

About Domaine Long-Depaquit

Domaine Long-Depaquit is one of the region’s most celebrated growers and deservedly so. The wines are consistently excellent from village to Grand Cru, regularly with Chablis’ elite producers, including the likes of Raveneau, yet at prices that are simply ludicrous in the context of Burgundy!
