Romain Taupenot suggested his 2022s show some of the energy and salinity of 2020 but are less concentrated with more red fruit character. They also have the charm of the 2019s, but with higher acid and greater freshness. Whilst the Corton Rognet tipped in at 13.9° the rest of the range were all between 13-13.5°. Romain is typically using 25% new oak for the village wines and 30-35% for the 1er crus.

Always one of the highlights of Romain's 1er Crus, the Chambolle-Musigny "la Combe d'Orveau" is a beautifully elegant & lithe, with excellent typicity from the village.

What the critics say:

17/20Jancis Robinson

"Mid ruby. Vibrant red fruits on the nose, cherries, pomegranate and raspberry. Real energy running through this. Pure expression of red fruits, driven by fine, crisp acidity (as opposed to the more strident acidity of 2020). Sapid with a salty, mineral finish. (MH)"
