Founded in 1893, the house of Delaunay became a prestigious and prolific estate and was one of the sole distributors of DRC and exclusively of La Romanée until the 1940s. Sold to Jean Claude Boisset in the 1990s, the maison was reborn in 2017 when winemaker and fifth generation, Laurent Delaunay, purchased back the name, and winery and cellars next to the family home Chateau de Chaumont. Laurent and wife Catherine have accessed some excellent vineyard sites across the Cote d’Or, including a gem in Petit-Vougeots, and right up to Griottes-Chambertin.
Very nice pale color. First discreet nose tinged with nuances of wheat flour and honey, a little almond, icing sugar with a small mineral note of gunstone. Beautiful attack in the mouth ample, fresh, delicate, subtle, all in balance. Let's go back to the nose: we now have notes of nougat, vanilla, praline, gingerbread and a little rum. Fresh and spicy nuances appear: verbena, ginger, pepper, flowers and exotic fruits, followed by citrus aromas, passion fruit, more minty notes of fresh herbs. Wonderful balance between delicacy, subtlety, persistence and power. A great wine of connoisseurs that will develop over the years an incredible aromatic complexity.
