The revival of the historic House Delaunay has been met with consistent acclaim with Laurent at the helm and Christophie Briotet in the winery (who has been IWC red winemaker of the year in 2020 & 2022 and white in 2021).

The wines have been highly praised by critics, Club Members and the Honest Grapes team, and the portfolio encompasses everything from humble Aligote to Chambertin Grand Cru. With their commitment to excellence and remarkable vineyard sources, House Delaunay has regained its prominence in the world of Burgundy wines.

Features as one of the Top 15 Négociants & Cooperatives in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2022 Special Report.

“From 1/3 Petit Maupertius near Echezeaux and 2/3 Dix Journaux between Clos Vougeot and Château de Latour, with 60% whole bunch and 5 barrels including 3 new, this Clos de Vougeot showcases profound purple plums and red fruit with a slightly gamey note. It delivers concentrated black and red plum juice, displaying good core minerality and length.”
Nathan Hill, Honest Grapes

What the critics say:

94-96/100Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"5 barrels, two from Petit Maupertuis destemmed, three others which are in new barrels and with 100% whole bunch vinification. The Clos Vougeot is very reductive at first, though this starts to blow off. There is a huge volume of fruit though and the two halves seem to marry up. Actually, rather an astonishing weight of fruit at the back of the palate. Definitely a Vin de Garde. This still needs more elevage but is very promising. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023."

17/20Matthew Hayes, Jancis Robinson

"From two sites in Les Petits Maupertuis (40% whole clusters, 60% new oak) and Les Dix Journaux (60% whole clusters and 40% new oak). Cask sample. Mid ruby. Cassis and raspberry. Liquorice and pepper, too. Perfumed. Intense and good."

95/100Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin

"The three barrels here come from destemmed Petits Maupertui and 100% whole cluster Les Dix Journaux. Starting with bramble and cherries, the palate layers in baking spices, cocoa and vanilla bean. Harmonious, lifting acidity waltzes with snappy tannins. The fruit hangs on through the slow, lazy finish. Three to four years to give this enough time to come together."

Edouard Delaunay

Like a phoenix from the ashes, the story of House Delaunay's revival attracted considerable attention and excitement back in 2017. We were confident that the House would live up to the hype, but they have even exceeded our wildest expectations.
