Following on the heels of Sassicaia the other week, we are pleased to offer 2022 Ornellaia, which has achieved an impressive follow up to the vaunted 2021, with headline scores of 99 points from Jane Anson (her joint highest ever rating right back to 1998!), and 97 points from Monica Larner – in both cases outpointing the vaunted 2021 (awarded 97 points and 96 points respectively).  Like all Supertuscans, Ornellaia needs time to show at its best, both for drinking and price improvement, although when fully mature, it does tend to set buyers back a fair bit more than on release:
 
One of the most recognisable names in the wine world and 2022 is another Ornellaia for the ages. Cases are being offered alongside its exceptionally good value (just £105/6 IB) baby brother Le Volte 2023, which Anson names as her “Best Value” wine of all the Spring Releases from The Place.  This Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet blend is a really well put together Supertuscan its own right. Awarding 92 points, Jane Anson says it is “more appealing than many Super Tuscans that are many times the price - a real buy, and one of the secrets of Tuscany in my opinion”. It will provide very satisfying drinking whilst the Grand Vin matures in the cellar for a good few years.
