Romain Taupenot suggested his 2022s show some of the energy and salinity of 2020 but are less concentrated with more red fruit character. They also have the charm of the 2019s, but with higher acid and greater freshness. Whilst the Corton Rognet tipped in at 13.9° the rest of the range were all between 13-13.5°. Romain is typically using 25% new oak for the village wines and 30-35% for the 1er crus.

“Sweet, pastille red fruits, plus notes of earth-covered truffles, smoke, and tapenade. Attack has purity and width, is juicy, packed with red cherries and cherry tobacco and minerally tannins which drive mid-palate length, and a spicy herbal lift on the finish."
Tom Harrow, Head Wine Guru

What the critics say:

16.5+/20Jancis Robinson

"Mid ruby. Raspberries, a shade of cassis. Deeper, richer fruit on the palate. Effortless, breezy acidity; soft, elegant tannins. Balance and understated. (MH)"

90-92/100Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"A bright purple, rich generous ripe fruit on the nose with a suggestion of velvet texture to follow, then a higher toned fresh red fruit, some strawberry beneath with a lifted acidity at the back. Very good. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: November 2023."
