This delightful Chardonnay from Mâconnais presents a pretty nose with pronounced floral elements, adding a touch of elegance to the bright citrus and apple scents. The middle-weight flavours exude a bracing salinity on the clean and nicely dry finale.
The vines average 28 years in age and thrive in calcareous clay soils, contributing to the wine's mineral undertones. Fermented and aged for 16 months in stainless steel, the Mâcon-Verzé maintains a fresh and lively character, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a pure and energetic expression of Chardonnay.
Founded in 1717, the Leflaive estate has remained in the family for generations, with Anne-Claude Leflaive, a pioneering advocate for biodynamic viticulture, significantly shaping its modern identity.

What the critics say:
"The entry-level Mâcon-Verzé from Leflaive shows a lovely lemony freshness and racy acidity, with a citrusy fruit stretching through the silky, lingering finish. The biodynamically farmed grapes come from the plots known as Le Clos, Les Chênes, En Perret, Le Monté, Escolles and Les Muses. They are picked by hand and lightly crushed before fermentation in a combination of concrete, stainless steel and large wood, ageing for 16 months."
