Monthélie Premier Cru Rouge, Clos Des Champs Fuillot, Bouchard Père & Fils, 2018
Monthélie Premier Cru Rouge, Clos Des Champs Fuillot, Bouchard Père & Fils, 2018
- Red Still
- Pinot Noir
More recently Bouchard has really upped its game, producing wines that have wowed the keenest of Burgundy critics, including Neal Martin & Allen Meadows (Burghound). Now batting in the big leagues, we’re delighted to have access to these wines.
Sourced from the Premier Cru vineyard "Clos Des Champs Fuillot" in the village of Monthélie, this wine benefits from the vineyard’s ideal exposure and the favourable 2018 vintage, which offered ripe and concentrated fruit.
It's a well-structured wine, with fine tannins and a lively acidity that provides balance and freshness. The fruit flavours mirror the nose, with additional layers of cranberry and a touch of liquorice. The wine’s minerality adds depth, leading to a long, elegant finish with a lingering note of red fruit and a hint of savoury herbs. It’s a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, particularly roasted poultry, game, and earthy mushroom-based dishes.
