Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Folatières, Domaine Alain Chavy, 2020

The Chavy family has roots in Puligny-Montrachet dating back nearly 200 years, but their modern story began in 1976 when Gérard Chavy made the pivotal decision to stop selling grapes to négociants and start bottling his own wine. In 2003, Gérard's sons, Alain and Jean-Louis, parted ways due to differing visions, each establishing their own domaines. 

Alain Chavy’s 7-hectare estate includes some of Puligny-Montrachet’s most prestigious Premier Crus. Known for a restrained style that emphasises the purity of fruit, Alain’s domaine has quickly become a standout in the appellation. With a hands-off approach that prioritizes freshness, he crafts wines of remarkable purity, precision, and tension.

His vineyards are sustainably farmed, with all cuvées hand-harvested and barrel-fermented at low temperatures—a technique Alain uses to preserve depth, complexity, and energy.
