Spectator Wine Club - 12x Château Sénéjac, 2020
- Red Still
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
"The 2020 Ch. Sénéjac (5) from the Haut-Médoc, is quintessential claret. Owned by the Bignon-Cordier family for the last 25 years, the estate just gets better and better, and this Cab/Merlot blend, overseen by the winemaking team at mighty Ch. Pontet Canet, is bang on song, with rich, concentrated, dark bramble fruit. They deliberately make the wines to be drunk young and this is already a huge pleasure being soft, velvety, elegant and stylish. It’s a great price too, and I haven’t found it cheaper elsewhere. The Co-operative, for example, sells it for over £20. Just saying. £18 down from £19."

What the critics say:
"This shows aromas of blackcurrants and black cherries with cocoa, pine cones, toasted spices and nut shell. Medium-bodied with round and polished tannins and a fine texture. Some delicious fruit character coming through turning to a chalky and crushed stone yet juicy finish. Try in 2024."
