“Querciabella stands head and shoulders above any other estate in Chianti Classico. It’s as simple as that.” Antonio Galloni.

“The flagship Camartina and Palafreno, both from the 2013 vintage are stellar.“ Antonio Galloni.

The Querciabella Estate “stands head and shoulders above the rest, its as simple as that” according to Antonio Galloni. This wine is a well-kept secret in Italy and we strongly recommend buying on every release; with 95 points from Galloni, the 2013 is certainly no exception. This is one of the finest vintages of Camartina ever, with scores on par with the legendary 2010 and 2006. This Cabernet Sauvignon/Sangiovese blend is grown at one of the highest points of Chianti Classico and was first produced in 1983 as a response to the emergence of Tignanello. Camartina is always held back longer than other Super Tuscans and released with considerable bottle age - in contrast to most Super Tuscans which are released far too young. The majority of Super Tuscans released their 2013’s three years ago! Querciabella’s primary commitment is to quality, producing Camartina in much lower volumes than its peers, striving for a Burgundian elegance and purity above all else.

Galloni signed off his Querciabella report with the line "These wines are simply gorgeous. That’s all there is to it."

"The 2013 Camartina is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, all from the Ruffoli sub-zone of Greve. It’s much less international in style than it used to be, or perhaps the Cabernet over the years has become domestic. Dense, creamy and beautifully textured in the glass, but in the restrained style that characterizes Querciabella's wines today, the 2013 is a real winner. Even at this early stage, it’s is all finesse. I can't wait to taste it with a few years of bottle age." 95 points, Antonio Galloni

"Aromas of blueberries, elderberries, herbs, ink and hints of orange rind as well as a touch of cedar and slate. The palate is full but so refined and beautiful with tight, polished tannins and a long, fresh finish. Such a well-made Super Tuscan. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese. Made from organic grapes." 94 points, James Suckling
