Always Look on the Pink Side of Life
You can find below a selection of our favourite rosés this year, handily put together in a heavily discounted mixed case as part of our birthday celebrations (effectively buy 12 bottles for the price 10). France, Italy, Spain and Portugal are represented so you can open a bottle or two in the garden/living room and be transported either back to wherever you managed a brief summer break or where you would like to have gone!
Lavradores de Feitoria Rosé, 2018: "The 2018 Lavradores de Feitoria Rosé comes from Portugal’s River Douro, the river of gold itself. A deep reddish-pink, it’s made from Touriga Franca plus, I gather, a splash of one or two other local varieties. It’s deliciously floral on the nose (think rose petals) with plenty of wild strawberries and hedgerow fruit on the palate too." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator.
Castello Romitorio Rosato, 2018: This 100% Sangiovese Rosato di Toscana has delicate floral notes of rose and peony on the nose, with a freshness and minerality on the palate. In the mouth the wine offers hints of bright raspberry and soft cherry, and has a long, delicate finish.
Domaine de L'Ostal Rose, 2019: Very pale, clear and delicate pink in hue. The highly complex and delicate nose offers a subtle combination of rose petals and pomegranate. On the palate, the attack is supple, light and fresh. The finish offers a pleasant touch of sweetness and lingering aromas of fresh pomegranate.
Leza Garcia, Cuna de la Poesía, 2018: "From Spain’s Rioja Alta, the pale salmon pink 2018 La Cuna de la Poesia Rosado is an extremely sophisticated rosé to rival any from Provence. Made from 100 per cent Grenache, it has plenty of wild berry fruit on the palate yet finishes crisp, clean and dry." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator.
