Château Vray de Croix Gay
"Complex aromas of dark fruits, mushrooms, orange peel and dried flowers follow through to a full body. Round and velvety tannins and a chewy, rich finish. A gorgeous young wine. Needs four or five years to soften. Drink in 2022 and onwards." 94 pts, James Suckling
"85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. 2015 began with cool and humid conditions, resulting in a late and rapid budburst at the beginning of April. Conditions warmed rapidly over the month. Flowering started at the end of May and was fast and homogeneous due to the sunny conditions (mid-flowering from 30 May to 4 June). Summer became very hot from 25 June. No rainfall was recorded between 15 June and 26 July. These conditions led to extreme drought in the vineyard and a lot of work was required to manage the soils and vines. From the end of July, providential rains accelerated the veraison, which was very fast and homogeneous. Between 80 and 110 mm of rainfall was recorded in August and 30 mm on average in September. The harvesting conditions were perfect from start to finish. Harvest 21 September to 2 October. Round and flattering. Quite evolved with a certain candied floral note. Very pleasing and nicely balanced." 16.5 pts, Jancis Robinson
