"Vinolok stopper. 1% Cabernet Franc in this wine from a vineyard on sandy loam soils over gravel and bedrock, with patches of clay at 500 m. First vintage was 1976 when single-vineyard, unfortified wines were distinctly novel. The fruit was fermented in open-top, concrete fermenters. Maturation took place in French oak hogsheads, of which 20% were new, for 18 months before the final blend was assembled. Medium-intense blackish garnet with some evolution at the rim. Evolved and complex nose that is so much more South Australian than varietal. Nothing remotely showy here, and the alcohol is definitively not evident. Savoury balsam and dried herbs with nothing simply fruity about it at all. You could certainly drink this already and the skein of flavours is already intriguing enough to distract this taster from analysing the tannin and acid content. In build and comportment it reminds me much more of a Ridge Monte Bello than any Australian Cabernet I can think of immediately – though it will clearly continue to develop. Much subtler than previous vintages, and more dependent on Cabernet Sauvignon. Quite a triumph. My natural instinct would be to serve it from my young wine decanter but it doesn't give the impression of desperately needing aeration. 17.5 pts, Jancis Robinson
"From a great cabernet vintage in Eden Valley, this has a wealth of fresh-herb, forest-leaf and wood aromas with an assertive and richly fruited palate that has a strong core of ripe blackeberries and blackcurrants with subtly toasty oak and ripe, plush, velvety tannins. Fast Delivery takes 1-3 working days and costs £12.50 for orders under £75. Orders over £75 are subject to Fast & FREE Delivery.
Same Day Delivery London is available to most London postcodes as listed in our T&Cs, if ordered by 11am Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). For orders over £75 London Same Day, delivery is charged at £15. For orders under £75 London Same Day, delivery is charged at £27.50. If ordered after 11am, you will receive your order on the next working day. We may be able to organise a speedy courier for you, so please call or email us if you have special requests. Saturday Delivery costs £30. This option is available to all UK mainland postcodes for orders placed between 1pm on Thursday and 1pm on Friday. This is optional at checkout, to be chosen in place of our standard 1 – 3 working day service. If you specifically need to place an order for Saturday delivery outside of the above times, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will see if we can arrange this for you.
Our Club Offers may take longer to ship, as we collect all of our members’ orders together before ordering them from the winemaker. The expected delivery timelines for each product should be specified on the product page. Otherwise, please contact us for the information.
