Special Edition All Reds
A case full of our favourite reds from around the world.
Varner Foxglove Zinfandel, 2016: "The 2016 Zinfandel is a fresh, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Juicy black cherry, leather, spice, menthol and cedar add character to this exuberant, racy Zinfandel. This is an especially floral, mid-weight style." Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Tenuta di Argiano Rosso di Montalcino, 2018: "A lovely example of Rosso di Montalcino, albeit on the young side - either keep it to mature for another year or two or if you can’t wait, a vigorous decant and then give it an hour to open up. Highly perfumed deep red cherries and a touch of leather lead to waves of succulent ripe red fruit, with layers of supple fine-grained tannins making this a perfect combination with pasta, red meat and tomatoes. Rosso di Montalcino is so different from Chianti, yet it’s made from the same grape and in the same region. Italian wine wizardry personified." Nathan Hill, HG Chairman
Jane Eyre Fleurie, 2016: "I had the pleasure of meeting Jane for the first time a few summers ago whilst staying with a mutual friend and was really impressed with her wines. The Côtes de Nuits Village could well be my new house Burgundy..." Tom Harrow, Honest Grapes Wine Director
Hoffmann & Rathbone Pinot Noir: A soft and silky cool climate Pinot Noir. Cranberry and raspberry aromas on the nose with hints of spices, herbaceous and floral notes. Lovely plush dark cherry and red forest fruit flavours on the palate. It is heavenly light wine with fantastic structure and complexity.
Luis Pato Vinhas Velhas Tinto, 2016: Raspberry on the nose with dark fruits and pine. Vanilla black olive and dark plum on the palate developing into woody, chocolatey flavours with a lasting finish. An hour in a decanter brings out a wonderful rock-rose perfume.
Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Rouge, 2017: Plenty of crunchy berries, with a lick of spice, moving to a palate of bright ripe red fruits – plums and raspberries, bound by nicely structured tannins.
