Storm Wines Wild Air Sauvignon Blanc

- Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, South Africa
One of the most exciting boutique South African producers we have come across in a while is Hannes Storm from the aptly named Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) Valley. Wild Air is a brilliant, zippy, concentrated Sauvignon with good textural depth to match its freshness – close your eyes and you could be drinking a ripe vintage Sancerre. Created in the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde - or heaven on earth - the wine is a collaboration between Storm wines and Ben Henshaw, a UK based importer of esoteric wines from across the world. Made from older vines, it's a wine made as naturally as possible with spontaneous yeasts and was largely fermented in large old oak barrels which lends a beautiful rounded texture to compliment the vibrant citrus and tropical Sauvignon Blanc notes.

"A really serious expression of Sauvignon Blanc from Hannes Storm that is loaded with quince, tropical yellow fruits, gooseberry and a hint of green mango peel. Creamy and mineral with super concentration – the New World answer to Sancerre." 94 pts, Decanter
