Domaine de l'Ostal Viognier
The Domaine de L’Ostal is situated in one of the finest terroirs of the Languedoc region and produces wines that infer the rich, powerful and noble terroirs of the local region. Domaine de L’Ostal owes its name to the term ostal meaning both ''house'' and ''family group'' in the ancient Occitan language. Its name is loaded with meaning and history for its owners. The domaine was purchased in 2002 by Jean-Michel Cazes, the owner of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac.
A 100% Viognier wine, L’Ostal Blanc was selected from the coldest land on the estate and of the Pays d’Oc region. It is the perfect illustration of a fresh and gourmet Languedoc white wine, expressing the subtle and elegant aromas characteristic of the Viognier grape variety, found in southern France. It has been aged on its fine lees for several weeks for a layer of added complexity.
It has a beautiful pale-yellow robe revealing subtle hues of green. The nose is expressive, unveiling notes of apricots and candied orange, mixed with floral touches of honeysuckle and almond. On the palate, it is wonderfully fragrant and marked by a great finesse. It offers an intense, fresh and well-balanced finish, both smooth and slightly acidulous.
