Wine Therapy, 29th May: NIGHTS
Ticket price includes the three bottles, joining instructions and Zoom meeting link (this will be emailed prior to the event) and the subsequent 1-hr YouTube recording.
Unwind with Honest Grapes and a selection of wines with great stories - for when the kids are finally in bed or you’ve just got home from a brutal day.Kick off at 8.30pm, and kick back with well-deserved wines and the below suggestions for some simple store cupboard accompaniments…
Exton Park Brut Reserve (375ml), NV: A refreshing sparkling wine and a perfect expression of Exton Park’s unique chalky terroir. Made from a blend of 60% Blanc de Pinot Noir and 40% of Chardonnay wines from several years, this is a delightful wine that works great not only as an aperitif but also paired with salmon, white meat, and even raspberry cake.
Pezat Blanc, 2018: Pezat Blanc Sec is a blend of 95% Sauvignon Blanc with the remainder being Maltus's signature Muscadelle, the cousin of Viognier, rare but still native to certain parts of Bordeaux. This is a quaffing wine – the wine that you keep in your fridge or look to drink by the glass at a restaurant. It’s Sauvignon Blanc dominated so it’s going to satisfy you and has the key addition of Muscadelle which will bring an exotic note that completely single varietal wines sometimes lack.
Terre di San Leonardo, 2016: The top winery in the region and one of the most consistent in the whole country. 'San Leonardo' wine, known by a number of critics as "the Sassicaia of the North", has been voted the best wine of Italy for two consecutive years. The Terre is from the younger fruit and, Merlot-dominant, at the price compares favourably to a warm vintage Pomerol or Saint Emilion, full of spicy ripe plum and roasted herbs.
"A lightly herbal red with impressions of dried hay, redcurrants and cranberry pie. Light to medium body, fine yet firm tannins and a medium finish. Drink now." 91 pts, James suckling
