A case full of classy reds from around the world.
Chateau Teyssier, St Emilion, 2015: "Bright summer berry compote and light pastry notes. The palate has a plush, ripe and open-knit feel. Drink now." 91 pts, James Suckling
Albert Bichot Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, 2017: "The 2017 Albert Bichot, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, a Pinot Noir of real character from the International Wine Challenge’s 2017 Red Winemaker of the Year. The grapes ripen slowly here on the slopes to the west of the Côtes de Nuits, and there’s a noticeable concentration to the fresh, lively fruit and a lovely savoury finish to each mouthful." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
Terre di Serrapetrona, Robbione DOC, Marche, 2013 "One of Italy's three original "dried grape" dry styles of wine alongside Amarone and Valtellina Sfortza - a great quiz question! Production requires 1.5kg grapes (normal wine is 1kg) and the grapes are then dried for one month, Tannins are powerful, softened by 3 years in botti grandi, and the wine retains great herbal freshness, alongside the spicy richness. It may be the least well know of the trio of the appasimento wines but it deserves greater renown and its certainly the best value." Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
Castello Romitorio Chianti Colli Senesi, Tuscany 2019"Smelling this transports you to the ochre-colored Tuscan countryside: the scent of the sun-dried earth and the oak forest is right there with the characteristically tangy Marasca cherry note of Sangiovese. The body has tension and shape without being heavy, there is freshness and bite: this was made for the table. This is pervasive and honest, has both impact and agility. The fruit -redcurrant, cranberry and Morello cherry- sings with purity on the finish. This has charm and character in spades."Anne Krebiehl MW
Brunia Pinot Noir, Cape South Coast, South Africa 2017 "A perfumed strawberry preserve bouquet, clean and pure. medium-bodied with red berry fruit and just a little dryness on a finish. A taut, mineral expression of Pinot Noir with a bright acidity, which lends tension and ageability to the wines.
La Giaretta della Valpolicella Amarone Classico, Veneto, 2017: "It's pure Black Forest Gateaux in the mouth with edges of cedar and a wonderful whack of creamy oak on the finish. Fine tannins, great structure and a lush quality to it. Once you've tried this wine you will be hooked!"Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
