3 x Bollinger Special Cuvée (£50.70)
Once again the Special Cuvee is one of the best Champagnes in its price range.
- Champagne, France
“Bollinger? If it’s ’69, you were expecting me.” Widely acknowledged as one of the world's finest champagnes, for 40 years and counting, Champagne Bollinger has featured in almost every Bond movie. The first mention of Bollinger is in the novel Diamonds Are Forever in 1956 when Tiffany Case sends a bottle up to Bond’s cabin on the Queen Elizabeth, and it made its first screen appearance in Live and Let Die in 1973 when Roger Moore orders a bottle in his San Monique hotel. This Bond favourite is one of the few remaining independent family owned Champagne houses. The Special Cuvée is the result of the delicate blending between harvest grapes and a majority of reserve wines, including some aged in magnums for more than 15 years in Bollinger’s cellars. Their key figure champagne still symbolises both its expertise and its history.
"The NV Brut Special Cuvee is fabulous. Hints of pears, pastry crust and hazelnut lead to an expansive core of fruit. There is plenty of the signature Bollinger oxidative style in this rich, enveloping Champagne. Once again the Special Cuvee is one of the best Champagnes in its price range." 91/100 Wine Advocate
