"A stunning entry-level estate wine that will grace any picnic."

"The Estate Riesling trocken comes from the estates secondary vineyards as well as declassified fruit from its Grand Cru vineyards. This offers a beautiful nose of pear, mirabelle, grapefruit and white peach. The wine is nicely smooth and delicately zesty on the palate and leaves a great feel of herbs and spices on the long finish. This is a gorgeous effort with real ‘grand vin’ character despite being only a ‘mere’ estate Riesling."
89/100 Mosel Fine Wines

90/100 David Schildknecht for Vinous

After a troublesome spring, the remainder of the 2016 growing season was remarkably benign, leaving the grapes grown on the Pündericher Marienburg as easy to harvest as they ever can be from this vineyard where grey, red and blue slate cling to the precipitous slopes teetering above an oxbow in the Mosel river. The lack of botrytis in 2016 means that no wines were made sweeter than Spätlese level. In contrast with the lush fruitiness of the 2015s, the 2016 wines show greater steeliness and vibrancy.

Jean Fisch and David Rayer of Mosel Fine Wines say "there is no beating about the bush. Clemens Busch produced possibly its best collection of wines ever. The basic dry Rieslings are of outstanding quality, the GGs (Grand Crus) prove remarkably stylish… there is almost too much to choose from this year – Bravo!"

The charming and self-effacing couple of Clemens and his wife Rita have gained a cult following over the past three decades for their laser-sharp, richly textured and terroir defined wines. Riesling is the king of grapes, the Mosel its most illustrious terrain and so produces its ultimate expression. Nowhere in the world is the identification of vine, winemaker and produce more precisely defined, and nowhere have we found Rieslings to compare with these.

In the sweet versus dry debate, it’s worth noting that Clemens only uses natural yeasts, preferring each wine to find its perfect balance in each vintage.
