One of the most fashionable and sought after fine wines in Spain

The most fashionable and sought after fine wines in Spain right now are from a handful of small growers in Priorat: Rene Berbier (Clos Mogador), Alvaro Palacios (Ermita) and Daphne Glorian (Clos I Terrasses) are leading the charge. The king grape here is Garnacha (Grenache), which is one of the few varieties that continues to be productive at 70+ years old, enabling old vine wines of great complexity that maintain their vivacity.

Clos Erasmus is the flagship wine from Daphne and winemaker Esther Nin and is truly extraordinary, with a globally unrivalled 97.8 point WA average over the last decade and a half.

"The just-bottled 2017 Clos Erasmus is a blend of Garnacha with 25% Syrah that fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and matured in 228-liter oak barrels (40% new). It feels very aromatic, expressive and open, floral and elegant and surprisingly fresh for the conditions of the year. It's still young and undeveloped, with the puppy fat still to be rendered, and right now, it comes through as juicy and elegant, with very good freshness and super fine tannins. It's very aromatic and floral, really impressive for 2017. It seems like the year was much better in the Mediterranean part of Spain than in the rest of the country. 3,000 bottles produced." 98 points Luis Gutiérrez for Wine Advocate
